Step 1: Prepare Cake Batter
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and flour a jelly roll pan. Beat the egg, egg yolks, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add flour, baking powder, milk and fold the flour and milk into the egg mixture gently.
Step 2: Bake The Cake
Add the melted butter and combine until well blended. Spread the batter in the jelly roll pan and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the cake from the oven and cool completely. Turn the cake out onto a cutting board. Cut a thin slice off each side of the chilled cake. Cut the cake into squares. Place cake pieces apart on a rack.
Step 3: Decorate and Serve
Pour the icing over the cakes, allowing the icings to drip down the sides of the cakes. Decorate Petit Fours with frostings pipes or sugared flowers.
