Step 1: Prepare Cupcake Batter
To make cupcake batter, in a medium bowl add cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt and mix together well and set aside. In a large bowl add butter, sugar and beat together until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time and beat until each is fully incorporated. Add buttermilk, vinegar, and vanilla extract, red food coloring and beat together until well combined. Gradually add flour mixture into butter mixture and beat together until just combined.
Step 2: Bake Cupcakes
To bake cupcakes, preheat oven to 350 F and line cupcake pan with paper cases. Divide cupcake batter evenly among the paper cases. Place cupcake pan in the oven and bake for 22 minutes. Remove cupcake pan from the oven and allow it to cool in cupcake pan for 5 minutes. Transfer red velvet cupcakes on a wire rack to cool completely before frosting.
Step 3: Prepare Cream Cheese Frosting
To make cream cheese frosting, in a medium bowl add butter, cream cheese and beat together until smooth. Add vanilla extract, powdered sugar and beat together until mixture becomes smooth and creamy.Transfer cream cheese frosting into pastry bag.
Step 4: Decorate & Serve Red Velvet Cupcakes
To decorate red velvet cupcakes, pipe cream cheese frosting onto cooled cupcakes with desired patterns. Decorate cupcakes with your favorite pink sugar crystals, red velvet cake crumbles, colorful sprinkles, heart sprinkles and different toppings on the top. Your red velvet cupcakes are ready to eat!
